8-week Midland Gundog Society Training:
First week we would like to put ALL dogs into one of the groups above subject to their abilities.
To allow the society to plan for this year’s training, we will require members to pre-register. We will offer classes for Puppy, Beginner, novice and advanced novice standard.
See below for guidelines we will cover on the below classes:
Puppy (For Dogs under 18 Months):
• Walking to heel
• Sit / Stay / Steadiness / Recall
• Introduction to basic retrieving and use of whistle
• Retrieving (marks and blinds)
• Directional retrieves
• Introduction to Water retrieving etc
Novice: (To include newly qualified open dogs if required)
• Extension of Beginner training.(Dogs are expected to be steady to shot, falling dummies and dogs working)
• Gun Shot / Dummy Launcher
The trainers (including the Societies committee) are experienced dog handlers and have Judged ( KC: A/B/Non Panel judges), competed, produced FTCH’s and have a wealth of knowledge within the competitive gundog world. The training will focus on preparing dogs for the Working Test and Field Trial arena.
Notes: Only fully paid up members will be allowed to attend the training and priority will be given to existing members. All training must be booked and paid for in advance. All handlers must bring 1 dummy. Classes will be limited to 8 per class and places will be allocated upon receipt of the completed application form. Should there be insufficient demand for a specific section we will notify the handlers beforehand and if practical offer a place in a different group. We reserve the right to ask a handler to remove any dog that is disruptive or acts in a manner likely to be to the detriment of other dogs in the class. No Bitches in season
